If you have previously considered using robots in your process but thought they were too expensive RobotCube may be the answer. The simple, lean design uses a mix of standard and customisable elements making it extremely cost effective.

RobotCube’s space efficient layout allows it to be installed in tight spaces which means that even small jobs can benefit from the speed and precision of a robot.

The open frame and pre-drilled base plate provides a flexible platform for configuration and also makes it easy to reconfigure if your needs change.

The simple design is based on a combination of standard and customised elements to make it very cost effective. Choose only the basic elements you need, and upgrade later if required.

COMPACT.

All services are mounted beneath the robot working area and the integral, secure guarding fits close to the robot working envelope giving a minimum footprint for the cell from 1000mm to 850mm and allowing installation in small spaces.

CONFIGURABLE. RE-CONFIGURABLE.

A full array of mounting holes in the base plate provides a flexible platform for customised elements. This modular design and open access to all sides of the cell gives multiple configuration options.

The fast, repeatable, programmable motion of a robot accurate to 0.01mm reduces process time and delivers quality improvements.

CASE STUDY.

COOPERVISION. CONTACT LENS MANUFACTURING.

A RobotCube workcell is used at global contact lens manufacturer CooperVision’s R&D facility in Southampton. It reduced the cycle time for contact lens transfer between moulding and curing processes by 30%.

The RobotCube is used to remove a manual step from the process improving the speed and accuracy of the operation and freeing up valuable operator time. The robot’s built in controller is used to manage the whole cell making it cost effective as well as being simple to set up and use.

The RobotCube uses an ABB IRB120 selected for its small size and speed to accurately transfer 8 parts in 10 seconds.

“Operating the robot from the ceiling of the cell was a novel idea to us. It’s a creative approach that saves space, which is important to us, so the whole cell now takes up no more footprint than the robot baseplate”, says Robin Frith, R&D Project Engineering Manager at CooperVision.
